My second tour to Nam was at the camp tien sha annex in Danang as a advisor , but for some reason only saw my counterpart a couple of times .i was the leading
Chief of the synchro Lift at the small craft repair base ,
this base had proably the best em and cpo club in I corp and was always crowded . at the lift part of our equip was a 16 ton rough terrain fork lift, and it seemed the folks who worked for me were stealing jeeps from the club ,guys would drive to the club park and spend a long time with chains and padlocks securing there vehicles and as soon as they went in here came the fork lift picking up the jeep and taking it to the shop where it was striped of radios gun mts or other non navy gear and painted and given a new serial no and hai van co van hoa qi ( US Navy advisor ) was stenciled under the windshield . i was required to inventory base equip as we were turning every thing over to the VN's and we had 27 jeeps that all had the same serial number ,, ended up loading a lot of gear including the jeeps and a bunch of boston whalers on a skilac and dumping them at sea to cover our butts Jim
